In the first part of the semester, the students will gain basic practical skills in laser physics and usually used measurement methods and techniques. In the second part the students will focus on tasks in preparation of low-dimensional systems, physics of low temperatures and basic structure and spectroscopic methods of solid state physics.

1. Spectral and spatial characteristics of light sources
2. Yb:YAG monocrystal absorption spectrum dependence on temperature
3. Flashlamp-pumped Er:YAG laser generating at 2.9 um + radiation delivery by a hollow fiber
4. Quasi-continual laser diode and side-pumped Nd:YAG laser
5. Diode-pumped Nd:YAG laser passively mode-locked by a semiconductor saturable absorber
6. Femtosecond laser system
7. Time-resolved single photon counting
8.Basics of preparation of thin layers
9.Quantum tunnelling in optical systems
10.Analysis of structure quantum systems with X-rays
11.Optical absorption and emission properties of quantum systems
12.Electric and magnetic properties at low temperatures
