- In order to register for the course 15POCHA, the student must have registered for the course 15ORCA2 no later than in the same semester.
- Course guarantor:
- Miroslav Lorenc
- Lecturer:
- Tutor:
- Miroslav Lorenc
- Supervisor:
- Department of Nuclear Chemistry
- Synopsis:
-
The basic practices of organic chemistry have the task to teach students the basics of laboratory techniques and methodology of work in the organic laboratory. Synthetic tasks are chosen so that the students are acquainted with basic chemical operations, and to obtain information on the preparation and properties of organic compounds.
Students thus have to supplement the theoretical knowledge from the lectures of organic chemistry.
- Requirements:
-
Completerd course Organic Chemistry 1, enrolled for the course Organic Chemistry 2.
- Syllabus of lectures:
- Syllabus of tutorials:
-
1.Basic operations in organic laboratory: procedures of isolation organic substances; purification; monitoring of reactions; chromatographic methods.
2.Work safety and first aid in the organic laboratory.
3.Laboratory technique: the construction of the apparatus for chemical reactions; stirring, heating; cooling; experiments under reduced pressure and in an inert atmosphere, humidity protection.
4.Purification and isolation procedures, filtration; washing; extraction, crystallization.
5.Distillation, simple distillation; distillation under reduced pressure, the use of rotary vacuum evaporator.
6.Thin layer chromatography.
7.The writing of the laboratory protocols.
- Study Objective:
-
The laboratory practice in inorganic chemistry provides the students with the knowledge of some basic organic chemistry laboratory techniques and methods of organic chemistry.
The students will acquire competence to perform independenty works in organic chemistry.
- Study materials:
-
