The course 04APU2 is a sequel to course 04APU, concentrating more thoroughly on ESP text content, text grammar and vocabulary. It introduces more advanced functions typical of ESP and more advanced information technology terms.
- Requirements:
-
Mastery of the material covered in the syllabus for the given semester.
Active participation in class.
Regular attendance, i.e. a maximum of 3 absences per semester
Proper preparation for each class, even in the case of previous absences. Each absence must be made up for (e.g., with a written assignment). Students who do not complete the homework will receive a 3% deduction from their final grade for each missed assignment.
Students must be prepared for each lesson. This means that they must have the necessary materials with them each week, including a textbook or other study materials. The materials can be also accessed electronically using a laptop or tablet (not a mobile phone). If a student attends class without the required study materials, this situation is considered an absence.
Independent completion and timely submission of all written assignments (see also note on the use of AI tools).
Final semester test with a minimum score of 60%. In case of failure, the zápočet test may be repeated once.
Note on the use of AI tool:
Especially for homework assignments, AI tools may be only used with express permission or recommendation.
In the case of unauthorized use of AI tools (e.g., text generation, text editing, etc.), i.e., the text is clearly written by someone else than the student (the submitted work is at a much higher language level than the student's level in class), the student must rewrite the text themselves. At the same time, 15% will be deducted from the student's zápočet test (both in the regular and retake attempts) for each such case. The same procedure applies in cases of plagiarism.
