Supervisor:
Department of Software Engineering
Synopsis:

The subject is focused on introduction to the discipline of Enterprise Engineering. Students learn the importance of a proper methodological approach for (re)engineering and implementation of processes, organisation structures and information support in big enterprises and institutions.

Requirements:

There are no formal prerequisites, as for the content, the subject is a sequel to BIE-KOM and BI-ZPI.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Introduction to the discipline of Enterprise Engineering. Introduction to Design & Engineering Method for Organizations (DEMO). Semiotic ladder and

distinguishing O/I/D levels for human activities.

2. Distinguishing coordination and production activities. The concept of Transaction and Transaction Patterns. Examples of transactions and reference models.

3. Applying a semiotic ladder to the organization structure. Details of coordination acts structure.

4. The notion of competence, authority and responsibility. Construction Model and examples. Interaction and interstriction concepts.

5. Process model and examples.

7. Action model.

8. Concepts of function, construction, affordance. Distinguishing implementation a

implementation. Business Information Systems.

9. Business process management.

10.-12. Team presentations.

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Introduction to business process modeling. Distinguishing O/I/D levels.

2. Modelling environment, transactions and simulations. Construction model.

3. Process model.

4. Model of facts. Action model.

5.-6. BPM systems. Work on semester projects. Consultations.

Study Objective:

The emphasis of this module is on achieving two major objectives. First, to be able to discuss and understand complex business processes, actors network, and actors interactions in intra- and inter-organizational processes. Second, to be able to discuss and understand collaborative systems, their application in modeling and simulation of complex business processes and enterprise and organizational modeling. These notions and concepts are formulated in an emerging approach called Collaborative, Participative, and Interactive Modeling (CPI Modeling).
