Tutor:
Supervisor:
Department of Steel and Timber Structures
Synopsis:

Students will learn about advanced solutions for experimental and numerical understanding of fire. Scale, measurement, ventilation, and extinguishing issues will be addressed, including the transition from energy to chemical models. In the area of heat transfer to the structure, students will be introduced to fire protection models including partially protected elements and contactors. Mechanical behavior will be focused on understanding the prediction of degradation of building materials and on issues of wood combustion and its contribution to fire loads.
