- Synopsis:
-
Daylighting should be understood as complex topic, overlapping between technical and non-technical disciplines. Newly adopted European standard Daylight in buildings (2018) introduces new approaches to assess the quality of the lighting environments in buildings; a number of new technologies and tools are available to measure and optimize lighting inside and outside buildings.
- Requirements:
-
- Interest in a deeper understanding of daylighting
- willingness to work in an interdisciplinary environment
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
- Introduction to daylighting theory,
- The human visual apparatus
According to the focus of the doctoral thesis
- Illumination of buildings and spaces
- Contribution of daylight
- Evaluation of the view
- Probability of glare from daylight
- Multi-criteria assessment of visual and thermal comfort in buildings
- Syllabus of tutorials:
-
The content of the practical assignment will be chosen in the context of the thesis topic, for example
- Measurement of daylight factor
- Determination of light transmittance, reflectance of materials
- Luminance analysis and glare assessment
- Spectral analyses
- Computer based daylighting analyses
- Multicriterial analysis of daylighting and thermal comfort
- Study Objective:
-
The goal of the course is to acquire, consolidate general overview of the field of daylighting, and deepen the knowledge of the subject covered in the student's doctoral thesis.
