- Synopsis:
-
This course is loosely related to the course „Experimental Methods in Building and Spatial Acoustics“, but in contrast it focuses mainly on computational predictions of acoustic properties of buildings.
- Requirements:
-
Basic theoretical knowledge of acoustics acquired in one of the other courses on building acoustics.
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
Sound insulation in buildings
- airborne sound insulation of single and double structures
- impact sound insulation of floors
- airborne sound insulation between rooms
- impact sound insulation between rooms
- airborne sound insulation against outdoor sound
Noise from building technical equipment
- sound pressure level in reverberant sound field in a room
Room acoustics
- sound absorption coefficient
- reverberation time
- Syllabus of tutorials:
-
Sound insulation in buildings
- airborne sound insulation of single and double structures (Technical method, B. H. Sharp, J. H. Rindel, INSUL)
- impact sound insulation of floors (Technical method, J. H. Rindel, INSUL)
- airborne sound insulation between rooms (ČSN EN ISO 12354-1, BASTIAN)
- impact sound insulation between rooms (ČSN EN ISO 12354-2, BASTIAN)
- airborne sound insulation against outdoor sound (ČSN EN ISO 12354-3, BASTIAN)
Noise from building technical equipment
- sound pressure level in reverberant sound field in a room (ČSN EN ISO 12354-5, ODEON)
Room acoustics
- sound absorption coefficient (ZORBA)
- reverberation time (ČSN EN ISO 12354-6, ODEON)
- Study Objective:
-
The aim of the course is to familiarize students with computational methods used in building and room acoustics, usually in the project design documentation phase, for more advanced predictions of acoustic properties of building elements, buildings and sound sources. Students will gain a deeper theoretical knowledge of sound insulation in buildings, noise of technical equipment in buildings and room acoustics, which will enable them to gain more insight into the issues of building and spatial acoustics and eventually be able to use them further in their dissertation.
