- Supervisor:
- Department of Architectural Modelling
- Synopsis:
-
Students are expected to structure their own learning path on the basis of the challenge provided by the architect. The course lectures supplement knowledge and background of contemporary design computation technologies.
- Requirements:
-
The course is open to all students who want to learn more about design computation in architecture. The form of Challenge-Based Learning puts much emphasis on self-learning and organizational skills which will also be discussed throughout the course.
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
1. Introduction to the course.
2. Challenge presentation by the architect.
3. What is design computing.
4. Digital design.
5. Interactive architecture.
6. Anthropocene and the post-human.
7. Artificial intelligence, deep learning.
8. Presentation of result to the challenge owner.
- Syllabus of tutorials:
-
Students document their process using the Teams environment. They create a learning path that support them to solve the challenge provided by the architect. Materials are documented in individual channels in Teams. The process is monitored and discussed with the teacher.
- Study Objective:
-
The goal of the course is to develop a systematic solution to the challenge offered by the architect in the course. According to the levels of CBL in the Apple structure, students plan their learning strategy, and formulate higher level goals and context. They document their resources and process how to solve the challenge. Finally, they produce a report of the whole process.
- Study materials:
-
The lectures are provided throughout the course in the Teams environment. Specific study materials for particular skills need to be identified by the students themselves. In many cases this is in the form of tutorials and exercises widely available on the Internet.
