The course is focused on advanced sensors and data communication principles within heterogeneous automotive networks. It especially deals with modern wideband automotive sensors communication over the internal vehicle communication infrastructure.

1. Automotive distributed systems - the concept
2. Camera-based sensors - functional principles, applications, in-camera processing, data communication
3. Radar sensors - functional principles, applications, internal data processing, data communication
4. LIDAR sensors - functional principles, applications, internal data processing, data communication
5. Ultrasonic sensors - functional principles, applications, internal data processing, data communication
6. Special sensors (knocking, rain, body gesture …) - functional principles, applications, internal data processing, data communication
7. In-vehicle communication infrastructure - principles
8. Controller Area Network (CAN), network cluster design, scheduling
9. Local Interconnect Network (LIN) network cluster design, scheduling
10. FlexRay network cluster design, scheduling
11. Automotive Ethernet
12. Audio/Video Bridging, Time Sensitive Networks
13. Time synchronization, synchronous and isochronous streaming
14. Testing and EMC of automotive distributed systems
- Syllabus of tutorials:

1 - 7 weeks: Project 1 - design of a simulation environment for the selected automotive sensor.
8 - 14 weeks: Project 2 - design of the in-vehicle communication system with specific constraints
