Synopsis:

The course focuses new challenges resulting from several issues such as: the dynamic situation in the European energy policy, the upcoming concept of energy prosumers, EU policy towards Smart-grids concept and related technologies, the demand of ESCO subjects or the potential of connecting decentralized energy systems with electromobility. The course is divided into two parts I and II. Part I mainly focuses on specific modifications of energy systems for suitability for decentralization and designing of such technologies.

a)Technologies:

Review of current technologies microturbine, Stirling engine, fuel cells, piston engines, steam units etc.

Review of current technologies photovoltaics, photothermics, heat pumps etc.

CTU technologies with unique know-how: ORC, APC

Thermal cycles for decentralized energy systems gas turbines, small steam turbines, ORC, piston engines etc.

Combined thermal cycles and their potential for decentralized energetics

Theoretical aspects of the operation of the DES CTU UCEEB

b)Design:

Heat and electricity demand

Power load diagram, design of the power structure of the decentralized energy source.

Design of the accumulation unit (both heat and electricity)

Technical aspects of the operation of the decentralized technologies

Practical aspects of the operation of the DES CTU UCEEB
