Synopsis:

The course introduces the basic categories of economics of healthcare facilities (hospitals, public and private clinics) with respect to cost, revenues and performance. It deals with financial management, marketing and other health-related professional activities and functions and their management. Health economics is a specific branch within economics concerned with the efficient allocation of scarce resources with respect to health and healthcare. It aims to develop and deepen the knowledge and skills of students in the field of financial management tools, financing of healthcare needs and performance analysis. The accent is also put on the understanding of the healthcare facility in its integrity and complexity, especially with respect to the basic target function.

Requirements:

The course is completed by credit and examination.

The credit is conditional on attendance (maximum 2 absences).

The credit is also conditioned by the elaboration of a continuous task - „Business Plan in Health Care“ and its presentation.

The exam is written and oral (min.50 out of 100).

•Health system - specifics of health economics, business typology and classification of health care facilities.

•Enterprise. Business Corporations Act. Business Plan - Purpose, Structure. Important legal forms of Business.

•Production capacity of the enterprise. Organizational structure. Situational analysis.

•Assets of the organization, fixed assets, current assets, Golden balance rules.

•Healthcare revenues, Profit and Loss Statement. Profit categories.

•Health care costs. Management Accounting. Financial Statements.

•Financial analysis - value and ratio ratios, credit and bankruptcy models, Du-Pont.

•Investment activity of the organization - evaluating the effectiveness of investments, Total Cost of Ownership

•Controlling and internal audit in healthcare facilities.

•Financial management of the organization - sources of financing, capital, optimization of the capital structure.

•Innovations and organisational innovations
