- Synopsis:
-
Laboratory exercises focuses on the chemical (radiochemical) aspects of disposal. Students will learn about various methods of characterizing radioactive materials using radiochemical methods (gamma spectrometry, liquid scintillation spectrometry, etc.), determine the level of contamination, propose a decontamination method, and perform it first in a batch arrangement and then continous in a modular decontamination system. They will evaluate the results obtained and compile a report on the work performed.
- Requirements:
-
The student submits a record of the work performed, including an evaluation of the results, their discussion, and a summary of the conclusions. This report may be returned for revision, depending on the assessment.
The course concludes with an oral interview, during which the critical points of the chosen procedures and their possible alternatives are discussed.
