Synopsis:

Basic definitions and factors in sustainable construction. Methodology for the multi-criteria and integrated assessment of buildings. Parameters and design principles for energy-efficient houses. Integrated design. Examples of projects with commentary by the author.

Syllabus of lectures:

* Introduction to the course, seminar assignment, introduction to the topic of sustainability, disinformation, the climate and energy crisis, mitigation measures, legislation, the New Green Savings scheme, energy performance certificates.

* Primary energy; an overview of renewable and non-renewable sources; an overview of electricity generation; history, current situation and future developments; how to design buildings utilising their own energy sources and the potential for savings.

* Energy flows in the context of an architects work.

* The Ten Commandments of energy-efficient design.

* Materials and technologies, examples of solutions and design principles, selected energy-efficient building details with regard to the quality of architectural and structural details.

* DEKSOFT software training

* Energy economics, energy saving, renewable energy sources (RES) and distributed energy systems (DES).

* Multi-criteria certification systems.

* Optimisation of building design using dynamic simulation.

* Sustainable construction, examples of specific projects.

* Moodle test and presentation of selected seminar papers
