Synopsis:

Attention is paid to the problem coordinate transformation in the plane with an redundant number of identical points (Helmert transformation, congruent transformation), coordinate transformation in space, to the calculation of coordinates of free station with least squares adjustment, formulation and solution of the error model of basic intersection problems (covariance matrix of coordinates, mean ellipse errors, isolines for coordinate standard deviation), calculation of the traverse with least squares adjustment and the effect of errors in the centering of an instrument and the target on the measured polar coordinates.

Requirements:

Knowledge of mathematics (linear algebra, matrix calculus, functions of multiple variables), theory of errors and adjustment calculation, working with Matlab or MS Excel software is required.

4-5: Free station

6: Coordinate transformation

7: Error model of intersection problems

8-10: Problems of intersection and their accuracy

11: Mean ellipse errors and mean error curve

12: Adjustment of a traverse with solution to based on the least squares

method

Study Objective:

Know theoretically and apply in practice: 1. Coordinate transformation, 2. solving a free station and a traverse problem 3. considerations of task accuracy for problems of intersection in accuracy analysis.
