Altitude system of the Czech Republic. Methods of stabilization of altitude points. Geometric levelling from the centre, technology of precision and technical levelling including errors and accuracy characteristics. Method of trigonometric determination of height differences. Methods of suppressing the effect of refraction on the measured zenith angle. Centering and mathematical reduction of measured quantities. Detailed altimetry measurements include older and newer technologies of the tachymetric method according to the available instrumentation up to the production of the altimetry plan.

1. Introduction to height measurements. Basic concepts, types of heights,
Methods of height measurements, height system of the Czech Republic, stabilisation and signalling of height points.
2-4. Levelling. The essence of the method, levelling instruments of the leveling and compensator type,
levelling battens and pads, levelling methods, technology of levelling measurements, types of levelling (technical and precision), preparation for measurements, tests and rectification. Laser levelling instruments.
5. Errors and accuracy of levelling work. Limits of deviation. Equalization of results of levelling measurements. Special levelling work. Leveling of profiles. Surface levelling.
6. Hydrostatic and trigonometric levelling. Hydrostatic levelling, air pressure measurement units, barometric height measurement. Trigonometric measurement of object heights (principle, use, accuracy).
7. Brief theory of refraction.
8. Trigonometric determination of height differences (TUVR) in alpine terrain. TUVR in flat terrain. Measured quantities in TUVR and their reduction. Instruments and target features. Centering and reduction of zenith angles. Determination of centering elements, theodolite horizon heights and target feature.
9. Methods of measuring zenith angles - elimination of systematic errors. Connecting measurements. Mathematical reductions of the measured length. Three basic procedures for the needs of semi-altitude and elevation surveying. Calculation of elevations and heights in TUVR. Economic evaluation of the method.
