Synopsis:

Design of interchange. Based on capacity assessment, evaluation of the most suitable form of interchange and its design processing. Roundabout design.

Requirements:

Submitting the project within the prescribed deadline and scope.

Mandatory participation in training, maximum 2 excused absences.

Continuous correction of work and control during the course.

The above requirements are necessary but not sufficient conditions for successful completion of the course

Syllabus of lectures:

Course without lecture.

Syllabus of tutorials:

-lecture - grade separated intersections in general, types and level of channelization, mutual distance of interchanges, assessment of capacity

-grade separated intersections design assignment, design categories of intersecting roads, intensity of individual directions, map base

-selection of grade separated interchange layout based on specified intensities, capacity assessment, mutual height solution, longitudinal profiles of direct roads

-design of the grade separated intersection, legs, location of the in-grade intersections

-design of roundabouts within the grade separated intersection

-longitudinal sections of intersection ramps and legs, drainage

-sample cross section of roundabout, cross sections within the grade separated intersection

-road signs

-conditions of visibility on intersections, drag curves

-consultations, design completion

Study Objective:

Expansion of knowledge from the area of road intersections, especially interchange and rounabout, clarification of methodologies used in ČSN.
