Synopsis:

Environmental education is taken in all developed countries as a part of basic as well as vocational and tertiary education. There is a long tradition of Environmental education, upbringing and popular cultural activities in the Czech Republic („Environmentální vzdělávání, výchova a osvěta“ abbreviated in Czech as EVVO) . An important milestone is represented by adoption of the basic strategic document The National Programme of Environmental Education, Upbringing and Enlightenment in the Czech Republic in 2000 - it has secured long-term development of EVVO in the Czech Republic.

Study Objective:

1) Environmental education is meant as an education focused on responsible management of the environment. In the Czech language are often used terms like Ecological education, Ecoeducation or Ecopedagogy. In an official communication is usually used designation „Environmental Education, Upbringing and Enlightenment“ (EVVO).

2) The Environmental education is understood as an education leading to compliance of a human being with his/her environment. It intervenes in various fields of human activities. It is not quite identical with environmental education, whose goal is to learn to understand relationships in ecosystems.

3)However, it should be noted that environmental education is not only about nature, it also encompasses relationships of man to his environment, to the place where he lives and works as well as the interrelationships among people.
