Department of Hydraulic Structures
Synopsis:

The course focuses on general understanding and conceptual design of hydraulic structures. Within the first part of the course, students will learn fundamentals of design and management of reservoirs, weirs on rivers and navigation structures, including locks and lifts. Second part of the course provides in depth view to dam engineering and hydropower. The course is suitable for both master and bachelor degree students and assumes basic knowledge of hydraulics and hydrology. The course is natural extension of the course Water and Environmental Engineering in terms of design and operation of hydraulic structures.

Requirements:

previous study, study course: Water and Environmental Engineering

Syllabus of lectures:

13 lectures on individual structures of hydrotechnical structures

Syllabus of tutorials:

calculation exercises for selected examples of structures

Study Objective:

The aim of the study is to acquaint students with the principles of specific structural design of hydraulic structures and the overall design of technological equipment of hydrotechnical structures. The aim of the study is as well to deepen the general information on the construction of hydraulic structures acquired during the study of the subject Water and Environmental Engineering (WEE).
