Overland flow characteristics calculation, soil erosion and sediment transport assessment. Basics of retention structures and soil erosion measures design. Land-use and ecological stability of landscape. Tools: ArcGIS, Atlas DMT, Idrisi, PhotoModeler Scanner, Agisoft PhotoScan, Open Source GIS (Q-GIS, GRASS GIS). Based on the student demands

Requirements:

Participation in seminars is mandatory. Completion of the course is conditioned by active participation in seminars, continuous consultation of solved problems and submission of a summary report in PDF format three weeks after the end of the semester.

Exercises take place in a computer lab, completion of the course assumes the use of students' own computers with SW installation for the implementation of the project.

Study Objective:

(1) To learn how to use GIS analysis for landscape assessment and to use existing geoinformation sources that provide information on flood and erosion retention and ecological stability.

(2) To understand the complex issues of flood and erosion protection in relation to the historical and current development of the landscape in the Czech Republic and its legislative framework.
