Synopsis:

Introduction to the detailed issues of design of prestressing of bridge structures, procedures of their computational analysis and the effects of construction technology. Introduction to the principles of structural generic optimization.

Requirements:

Knowledge corresponding to the scope of previously covered material in the Bachelor's and Master's courses in the field of concrete structures and general theory of structures.

- Principles of Prestress Design for Bridge Structures - Part 1

- Principles of Prestress Design for Bridge Structures - Part 2

- Principles of Prestress Design for Bridge Structures - Part 3

- Basic Philosophy of Developing Computational Models for Concrete Bridge Structures

- Computational Analysis - Lethane Concrete Structures

- Computational Analysis - Extension Structures, Segmental Structures

- Computational Analysis - Suspended and Hybrid Structures

- Geometric optimization of structures

- Design Standard Procedures for Concrete Bridge Structures - Comparison of Current and Previously Applicable Procedures

- Selected problems in the design of bridge structures

- Shear and torsion - theoretical analysis of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures, practical implementation, design principles

- Interaction between bridge structure and subgrade (surrounding environment)

- Summary and repetition of the material discussed

Syllabus of tutorials:

- Structural and static design of prestressed bridge structure;

- Computational analysis of stress redistribution on a rheologically inhomogeneous structure;

Study Objective:

Deepening of comprehensive knowledge in the field of design of prestressed concrete structures and bridges. Familiarization with the specifics of individual technologies of bridge construction and their consideration in the computational analysis. Basic principles of optimization of building structures. selected problems of action of concrete bridge structures - interaction of shear and torsion and influence of the method of foundation on the overall action of the structure.
