Course 13604D is the final professional course for students who have chosen to specialization in road construction. The course deepens the knowledge previously acquired in the field of technologies and technical solutions of road structures including pavements and extends it to other special or otherwise specific technologies. The student will be introduced to key technologies for asphalt pavements, concrete pavements, stone paved pavements and bridge pavements.
- Requirements:

As part of the exercise, the student prepares a presentation on the assigned topic, which is then presented to classmates during the exercise class. At the same time, in small groups, students prepare a visual diagnosis for a selected local municipal road or a class II or III road. The course ends with a written examination.
- Syllabus of lectures:

* Principles of design of hot asphalt mixtures and the quality management system of roads in the Czech Republic (ČSN EN, TKP, TP). Technological principles of transport, laying and compaction of ahot asphalt mixtures, technological principles of transport and laying of mastic asphalt. Design of compaction assemblies.
* Bituminous emulsions and technologies using emulsions. Conditions for the use of tack coats.
*Technologies for recycling asphalt pavements (hot recycling, cold recycling).
*Noise-reduced overlays.
* Warm asphalt mixtures.
*SAL type asphalt mixes. Reinforcement of asphalt layers.
*Mixes and layers bond by hydraulic binders, porous cement concrete. Use of secondary materials.
*Cement concrete pavement technology and concrete pavement characteristics (including concrete with exposed aggregate and grinding).
*Slow degrading pavements, long life pavements - solutions in asphalt mixes (VMT, SMA L etc.).
*Pavements on bridges.
*Paved roadways.
*Reology of bituminous binders and mixtures.
*Visit or road construction field trips.
- Syllabus of tutorials:

In the exercise, the student selects one of the assigned topics on the issue of road construction technology. On this topic he/she prepares a professional essay and at the same time prepares a presentation. This is then presented in front of his/her fellow students.

The aim of the course is to supplement the knowledge of students of the KD specialization with technologies and technical solutions in the field of road construction as an knowledge extension to the basic range of knowledge acquired in the previous years of study.
