Department of Architectural Engineering
Synopsis:

The purpose of the course is to gain practical experience in particular tasks with the application of the basic principles of integrated design, the conceptual solution of the building and its optimization from the point of view of:

- structural, technological and material (including environmental analysis)

- thermal technical (system boundary, design of the building envelope, assessment of structural components)

- creating a high-quality indoor microclimate (air exchange, acoustics, lighting, sunlight, overheating, elimination of thermal bridges)

- technical systems (energy and resource management).

The tasks solved here are mainly in the area of demanding changes (renovations, reconstructions) of buildings or solutions for buildings in different climatic and social conditions.

Requirements:

Submission of particular works within the prescribed deadline and to the prescribed extent.

Continuous consultation of work and control during the semester (according to the teacher's requirements).

Syllabus of lectures:

no lecture

Syllabus of tutorials:

- Assignment choice

- Analysis of the assigned project - formulation of key aspects (energy intensity, environmental footprint, airtightness, physical properties of the building)

- Creation of a concept with the aim of designing an energy-efficient building

- Structural, technological and material solutions (including environmental analysis)

- Building energy concept (system boundary, building envelope design, assessment of structural components, airtightness)

- Design of a high-quality indoor microclimate (air exchange, acoustics, lighting, sunlight, overheating, elimination of thermal bridges)

- Assessment of the structural and physical properties of structures and internal environment

- General of technical systems (energy and resource management)

- Evaluation of variants, optimization

- Elaboration of characteristic construction details

- Project control day

- Elaboration of the drawing, text and calculation part

- Presentation of results, submission, graded credit

Study Objective:

The aim of the course is to gain practical experience with the application of the basic principles of integrated design, conceptual solution of the building and its optimization on specific tasks of energy-efficient buildings.

Students are motivated to acquire basic engineering skills when solving topics dealing with the issue of environmentally and energy-optimized buildings and ecological architecture.
