Synopsis:

The aim of the course is to gain necessary knowledge for the right strategy implementation in an enterprise and by use of it to evaluate performance parameters. These performance parameters used by planning of firm´s development and by results evaluation are followed in complex approach. Further the student is able to master performance parameters in business decision making processes and formulate tasks for teams which procure business internal processes. Gain knowledge are applicable for making business projects.

Requirements:
Syllabus of lectures:

1. Introduction into the subject. Performance approaches and theirs measurement. Factors with influence on firm´s performance, principles of performance measurement, development trends, limitations by performance measurement implementation.

2. Economic evaluation of financial performance results. Managerial view on financial performance. Stakeholders view on financial performance. Use of traditional accesses in performance measurement and management. Contradiction of performance and development of the firm.

3. Complex attitudes in firm´s performance measurement. Balanced Scorecard (BSC) as a tool for firm´s performance planning and management, perspectives content and interconnections, practical use of the methodology in business environment, strategic maps.

4. Performance measurement and management by use of BSC tools. Financial perspective. Customer perspective. Perspective of internal processes. Perspective of internal potentials. Metrics and indicators in BSC and firm´s development strategy management.

5. Strategic management by use of the BSC. Transfer of the strategic plan into operational activities of the firm by use of the BSC. Goals philosophy in particular perspectives. Connections between strategic plan and organisational structure of the firm. Strategic plan implementation according to the BSC methodology.

6. Internal processes. Design of internal processes, process maps, measurements of processes, reengineering of processes.

7. Strategic maps. Strategic goals decomposition and Key Performance Indicators (KPI) formulation. Strategic activities description. „Story of Strategy“. Conception of the strategic map for profile strategies.

8. Use of intangibles in internal processes. Value creation in internal processes. Risk management. Human, informational, organisational capitals.

9. Strategic development plan according to BSC methodology. Strategic plan implementation by tools of the BSC. Practical steps in BSC model creation into firm´s structure.

10. Performance measurement methodology in Nongovernmental Non-profit Organisation and Public Administration. Benefits estimation as a profit substitution. Performance frameworks in non-profit industry. Evaluation of non-profit projects. Sources for non-profit organisations financing. Net Economic Value (NEV) indicator.

11. BSC methodology in management and strategy plan implementation in Non-profit organisation and Public Administration. The role of quality in performance measurement in non-profit industry.

12. Modern methodology in operational process management. Methodology ABC/ABM in firm´s managerial performance measurement. Management supported by ABC/ABM. The use of ABC in BSC methodology. TQM and its implementation according to BSC methodology.

Syllabus of tutorials:

1. Seminar project assignment. Discussion to the topics.

2. Performance measurement and management by use of traditional methods (examples).

3. Practical use of EVA indicator in financial performance measurement.

4. Practical use of CFROI indicator in financial performance measurement.

5. Transfer of formulated strategy into BSC perspectives. Setting goals, measures and indicators.

6. Strategic actions formulation, interconnection of perspectives.

7. Intangible, setting the rate of preparedness for strategy implementation.

8. Internal processes.

9. Strategy map construction towards the implemented strategy.

10. Documentary materials design for use of BSC in strategic plan implementation.

11. Discussion to seminar project progress.

12. The use of performance management methods in Non-profit Industry and Public Administration.

Study Objective:

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

. explain the term of the Balanced Scorecard and sense of its use;

. describe principles of strategy implementation according to BSC methodology in Profit and Non-profit organisations;

. choose relevant tools for performance management in the firm;

. analyse external and internal business environment in order to gain necessary information for strategy transformation into BSC methodology;

. design strategy implementation process by use of BSC methodology including strategy map construction.
