Requirements for „zápočet“
Academic Achievement - students are due to:
-Take an active part in the language instruction.
-Deliver a presentation.
-Meet the requirements for home assignments.
-Succeed in two tests (midterm and final) and get 70% of the total points at minimum for each.
Attendance - Students are allowed to be absent twice during the semester.
Requirements will be specified by individual teachers at the first lesson of the term.
*Teachers are allowed to and recommended to supplement each week with their own materials.

Course objective: The course focuses on technical English and practising difficult grammar concepts. Listening: Authentic texts, exercises on the text, interview,news. Reading: More difficult texts and newspaper articles, mathematical symbols and abbreviations and technical texts. Speaking: Discussion of technical drawings (graphs, diagrams) and texts, discussions, presentations, describing objects, leaving messages and stating preferences. Specialised terminology from the field of study. Writing: summaries, descriptions, technical specifications, stating preferences. Grammar: Revision of tenses, participles, subject and object questions, articles, countable and uncountable nouns, subject - verb agreement, passive, verb phrases - (verb + to- infinitive/ gerund/ preposition. Using a dictionary.
