During the semester, students are introduced to the use of GIS tools in the field of water management. They become familiar with the basic principles and tools of GIS, particularly ArcGIS, which they use in a wide range of practical applications. The course format, consisting of one hour of lectures and one hour of practical classes per week, allows students to immediately apply and practise the topics covered.

Course credit is awarded based on active participation in practical classes demonstrating the skills acquired in the ArcGIS Pro environment, including the preparation of a water-management-related analysis/map as part of the practical classes.
- Syllabus of lectures:

The course is divided into the following topics:
* introduction to the basic ArcGIS Pro environment and GIS in general,
* applications of GIS in water management and civil engineering,
* working with data, including vector and raster data and databases,
* public GIS databases relevant to water management and their integration into the GIS environment,
* advanced data analyses in the fields of hydrology, reservoirs, water transport, flood-prone areas, risk analysis, and flood protection measures,
* preparation and publication of a water-management-themed map, including legends, scales, and layer display, both as a print-ready (PDF) version and an online version.
