Synopsis:

Overview of selected modern instrumental methods of research and analysis, theoretical fundamentals, instrumental technique, utilization and application.

Requirements:

Knowledge of principles of physical and analytical chemistry.

Syllabus of lectures:

Overview of basic types of radiation sources and detectors used in basic techniques of analytical methods, principles of these methods, introduction to selected advanced instrumental methods of research and analysis, utilization and application.

Outline:

1.Overview of basic radiation sources and principles for X-ray, UV-VIS, IR

2.Overview of basic detectors and principles of detection

3.Basics of spectroscopy

4.Basics of vacuum technology (sources, measurements)

5.Selected analytical methods

UV-VIS absorption spectrometry

Atomic absorption spectrometry

Infrared absorption spectroscopy (basic FTIR techniques)

Absorption methods on beams of synchrotron radiation

Raman spectroscopy

Methods based on emission of radiation (Luminescent spectrometry (TRLFS, LIBS, etc.), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy)

Mössbauer spectroscopy

Nuclear magnetic and paramagnetic resonance

Chromatographic analytical methods (High performance liquid chromatography, Gas chromatography)

Mass spectrometry (MS)

Thermal analysis methods (eg differential thermal analysis, thermogravimetry, DSC, TD, EGA, ETA)

Modern microscopy ( electron microscopy, fluorescence microscopy (SIM, STED, STORM, etc.)
