Department of Construction Management and Economics
Synopsis:

Subject deals with Building Information Modeling (BIM) topic as with the modern tool for management and operation of construction projects. It is oriented to handling basic relevant software (Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Navisworks) and especially to understanding meaning of BIM in current construction business and its future and importance in specific phases of construction projects.

Requirements:

- ability to use PC

- basic knowledge of Autodesk AutoCAD or other CAD aplication (preferably Archicad or Microstation)

- basic knowledge of construction management (MS Project or Primavera knwledge is not necessary, but is welcome)

- basic knowledge of budgeting and quantity takeoffs

- tools used are in english

Syllabus of lectures:

There will be 1-2 lectures instead of excercises, dealing with basics of following topics:

- BIM basics

- BIM in practice

- BIM tools

- BIM from different perspectives

- present BIM

- future BIM

Syllabus of tutorials:

- Autodesk Revit basics

- Modeling basics, iobject oriented modeling

- Wiotking with models, parametric modeling

- Quantity takeoff and budgeting

- Materials, views and rendering

- Autodesk Quantity Takeoff, export and import, quantity takeoff

- Automatization of QTO with the use of models

- Navisworks Manage, export and import of dat, model navigation

- Time planning with the use of model

- Clash detection

- Quantity takeoff and budgeting

- Advanced animations and scripts

- Reserve, consultations, final exam

Study Objective:

- to understand the importance of BIM in modern construction industry, to understand current degree of usability

- to learn about BIM tools and methods

- to understand advantages and risks of BIm in different project phases

- to learn about current BIM implementation obstacles and ways how to overcome these obstacles

- to get basic knowledge of software Autodesk Revit, and advanced knowledge of software Autodesk Navisworks Manage
