- Synopsis:
-
The course offers a practical introduction to production machines including modern CNC technologies and the basics of design considerations of components produced on CNC machines. Students will acquire the necessary knowledge of the production cycle of basic types of production machines as well as CNC machining centres, including the design brief, technologies and production procedures used and determination of technological conditions. Students will also familiarize themselves with machine operation, possibilities of machine and tool adjustment, production proper, testing procedures and product measurement. Basic statistical and operational diagnostic methods of measurement will also be demonstrated (measurements of accuracy, force, noise, vibration, temperature etc.)
The course will inform the students of the possibilities of studying at the Department of Machining Technology and the Department of Production Machines and Equipment. It will also provide them with an idea of current employment possibilities on completing their studies.
- Requirements:
- Syllabus of lectures:
- Syllabus of tutorials:
-
-Introduction; organization; safety regulations; assignment of the term paper
-Supervised practical work on both conventional and NC machines based on the design brief (determination of the technological procedure and cutting conditions, machine and tool adjustment, production and final inspection). Examples of statistical and operational diagnostics and measurement will be demonstrated (stiffness, accuracy, noise, temperature ? thermal camera, vibrations etc.).
-A seminar at a CNC production machine seller. A demonstration of machine technological capabilities.
-A seminar at a machine tool producer. A discussion with representatives of the design, technology and personnel department.
-Term paper assessment and course credit
