- Synopsis:

Rise and development of road pavement mechanics, fundamental data for designing, characteristics of traffic load, thermic and water relation of subbase,load-bearing capacity of subgrade, road pavement materials, pavement design methods - partition, development and possibilities. Stress and transformation analysis on road pavement construction and subgrade, pavement design specificity for different constructional types, road pavements with special loads.

Lectures are not compulsory, but they are certainly a better basis for understanding the subject matter taught than independent study from the syllabus provided by the lecturer.
Exercises are compulsory - clarification with the lecturers.
Submission of work within the prescribed scope and deadline.

2. Design methods, history, distribution, description. Pavement design in the Czech Republic
3. Design method TP 170 - amendment 2023
4. Design and assessment of concrete pavement for normal road loads according to TP 170
5. Modern methods of concrete pavement modelling in FEM
6. Extreme loading of pavement structures. Influence of design load configuration on stresses and strains in the pavement structure
7. Design and assessment of asphalt pavement for non-standard loads

In the exercises, practical assignments are used to practise the professional issues presented in lectures 4, 6 and 7.

- Study Objective:

The student will familiarize with the fundamentals of road pavement mechanics,
he will gain basic information about road pavement and subgrade behaviour in the different design conditions. The student will familiarize with the pavement design of different constructional types, resp. pavement design with special loads (e.g. aircrafts, special transporters etc.).
