Synopsis:

The course is first focused on orthogprahpic, morphological, and style practice, later on formal academic style and its specific features. It provides the students with knowledge of principles of rhetoric, presentations, and writing and defending the final project. It contains presentations of students´ specialist topics.

Requirements:

Czech language competence at the „maturita“ level

Based on the required and recommended sources, the course is focused on training orthography, mofphology, syntax, and style

Syllabus of tutorials:

The course is run as a series of seminars following the topics and scope of the syllabus mentioned above.

Study Objective:

Knowledge:

Extended knowledge of orthography, morphology, syntax, and style, paying special attention to formal academic language. New usage of nouns, pronouns, numerals; more complex compound sentences, clauses, noun phrases.

Skills:

To train writing a paper and abstract, work with sources using adequate language structures; prepare and make a presentation in the student´s field making use of the knowledge of style and rhetoric.
