Principles, main configurations, typical implementations and applications of optical sensors.
- Requirements:

Basic knowledge of wave optics.
- Syllabus of lectures:

1. Introduction to optical sensors (definitions and classification of sensors, main characteristics of optical sensors).
2. Review of optical phenomena and technologies used in optical sensors (optical waves, material properties, optical waveguides, etc.).
3. Sensors based on spectroscopy of modes of optical waveguides (grating coupler sensor, resonant mirror sensor, surface plasmon resonance sensor) and their applications.
4. Interferometric sensors (sensors based on Michelson, Mach-Zehnder, Sagnac, Young and Fabry-Perot interferometers) and their applications.
5. Spectroscopic sensors (sensors based on absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, and Raman scattering spectroscopy) and their applications.
6. Optical sensors for distributed and multi-point measurements (fiber-optic sensors, sensors using Bragg gratings, optical sensor networks, multiplexing of optical sensors, fier-optic distributed sensors) and their applications.
