Synopsis:

The subject goal is focused on study of not-native references relating to dissertation (preparation of the „State of the art“).The subject is oriented to the following spheres: steel structures, composite steel and concrete structures, glass and hybrid (from various materials) structures. The resulting seminar work should cover analysis and evaluation of essential contribution of the studied references, establishing of the proper Czech terminology, preparation of scientific papers according to the given rules. The seminar work is subjected to a discussion and evaluation.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Bibliographic search in the field of specialization.

2. Choice of suitable references in English language (60 pages).

3. Study and consultation of problems.

4. Elaboration of report appropriate for inclusion into first part of PhD thesis.

Study Objective:

Acquirement of deep abilities in theory of steel, aluminium, stainless steel and composite steel and concrete structures.

Study materials:

References in English (min. 60 pages) are prescribed to study. The literature is chosen in accordance with goals of the dissertation in order to cover both the basic and up-to-date knowledge concerning the dissertation focus. The sources of the study are professional journals, books, papers of conferences and dissertations. During the study and preparation of the seminar work the sources are usually complemented with other references according to discussion with supervisor.
