Synopsis:

The course is made specially for foreign students. In the Computer Graphics course students will learn to work with current means of graphic design. Usually, each house is very different and there leader of the course introduces new topic. Programming is taught and also classical programs like Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign might be used. The graphic content of the work will be linked to the experience of Prague or other city in case of EUROTEQ students. The final goal of the work is to make a collaboratively authored poster, book, game, film with the students' personal impression of the City and the given topic. Students will learn image processing, typography, editing, and layouts in various softwares.

Requirements:

The minimum number of students to open the course is 5. EXCEPTION for self-paying students: if there are less than 5 students, the course will be taught in the method of single consultations.

Syllabus of lectures:

1. Introduction to the course.

2. Learning goals and outcormes.

3. Overview of used software.

4. Teaching the specific software needed in the case.

5. Final presentation: poster of movie.

Syllabus of tutorials:

Computer graphic course layout varies from meetings every week to longer meetings once 14 days plus excursion. Example in case of the poster topic:

1.introduction how to use Apple Mc, program Aldus Freehand.

2.Shape and colour composition, vector drawing - /Aldus Freehand/.

3.Composition „ Point,Line, Area“- /Aldus Freehand/.

4.Headlines lettering. Principles of typography I. - /Aldus Freehand/.

5.Program QuarkXPress.

6.Layout of page. Principles of typography II.

9.Composition of picture. Photography in use. /Photoshop/.

14.Printing of the poster.

Study Objective:

During several lessons students will be led to become familiar with graphic programs, and also with the basics of programming. The result of their team work is usually a poster on individual topic. It will be required to hand in the poster in digital form and a version printed on paper. - format B1for final exhibition.
