Synopsis:

Applications of computational flud dynamics (CFD) in simulations of indoor environment and HVAC systems.

Requirements:

Basic principles of transport phenomena in heating, ventilation and air-conditioning.

Syllabus of lectures:

Indoor air flow, properties of air, governing equations, turbulence modeling, numerical grids, boundary layer, wall functions, quality assessment of CFD results, isothermal flow, free jet, wall jet, natural and forced convection, heat radiation models, modeling of exterior conditions (whether), simplified modeling of air diffusers, thermal comfort assessment, contaminant spread in indoor air

Syllabus of tutorials:

Practical applications of modelling and simulation using the ANSYS/Fluent software.

Study Objective:

Practical knowledge of applications of CFD in indoor air flow, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning.
