Laser medicine origin; interaction of radiation with tissue; lasers in various medical disciplines.

Introduction to laser technique.

Syllabus of lectures:

Laser medicine origin, interaction of radiation with tissue, overview and characteristics of lasers, the radiation delivery into the interaction space, primary and secondary factors involved in the interaction of radiation with tissue. Lasers in various medical disciplines - application of laser radiation in ophthalmology, dermatology, dentistry, urology, cardiology, angioplasty, neurosurgery, orthopedics, gastroenterology, otorhinolaryngology, and photodynamic therapy.

Study Objective:

Knowledge: interaction of laser radiation with biological tissue.

Skills: application of the combined knowledge of laser technology and the interaction of laser radiation with tissue for laser applications in medicine.
