Subject Solar Thermal Engineering is focused on practical designing and evaluation of solar thermal systems, extending the knowledge gained in subjects on alternative energy sources

Passing the Basics of alternative energy sources
- Syllabus of lectures:

Solar radiation, calculation models for incident solar radiation, sources of climatic data for designing and evaluation. Solar thermal systems - types and applications, basic characteristics of solar systems, hydraulic concepts. Designing and energetic evaluation of solar systems, simplified methods (TNI 73 0302, ČSN EN 15316-4-2), simulation programs, design of solar collector area. Solar stores, types (water store, PCM stores), volume determination, thermal stratification, influence of design on losses. Stagnation behaviour of solar systems, consideration of stagnation for pipe design, heat insulation, safety valve, expansion vessel. Hydraulics calculation, circulation pumps, heat exchnagers, control.
Field measurement of solar systems, economic calculations, emission and primary energy savings.

Heat demand calculation, design of solar collector area for hot water system and space heating systemin family house and swimming pool
Design and evaluation of solar system for hot water in block of flats
Hydraulic concept of solar collectors, design of piping and insulation
Design of safety valve, expansion vessel, circulation pump, heat exchanger
Variant calculation of economic rentability of solar systems, calculation of primary energy and CO2 emissions savings
