- Synopsis:
-
Service systems form the technical infrastructure of settlements and urbanised space. They supply by mass and energy and carry out their transport as well as the transmission of information. They also remove wastes and ensure their recycling and final disposal.
In addition, the energy systems are enriched by alternative resources of energy and the principles of sustainable development are discussed.
- Requirements:
-
The minimum number of students to open the course is 5. EXCEPTION for self-paying students: if there are less than 5 students, the course will be taught in consultations.
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
1.Character and structure of service systems, their territorial reach. Centralised systems.
2.Service systems and types of coverage, public utilities, local services.
3.Typology of service systems. Underground lines, overhead lines. Collectors. Joint line of underground pipes and cables.
4.Transport parts of service systems, interaction with parts of city, street, locality, building.
5.Water supply systems. Resources, criteria for water quality.
6.Transport of water, accumulation reservoirs, consumption of water.
7.Drainage of settlements, combined system, storm drainage, foul sewer, separate sewers, pressure pipe systems, evacuation systems. Basic hydraulic calculation.
8.Types of waste water, purification of sewage, sewage treatment plants.
9.Integrated systems of solid waste material management. Recycling, utilisable used raw material.
10.Energy and cities, settlements, human consumption, resources, distribution systems.
11.Electric power systems. Resources, capacity, transport.
12.Territorial central heat distribution systems, transport media, transforming stations.
13.Natural gas, resources, transport nets. Renewable energy resources, sustainable development.
14.Systems of transport of information.
- Syllabus of tutorials:
- Study Objective:
-
To introduce undergraduates to settlement utilities, to their function, to the interaction between technical utilities and urban space, to determine limits of factors important for the future development of settlements. The ability to design the basic structure of technical utilities and calculate their technical characteristics.
