Synopsis:

Within the course, students will be introduced to the different types of materials, their structural and physical characteristics, technological procedures in their production and their machining. The course focuses on the following materials: concrete, reinforced concrete, glass-cement composites, glass in various modifications, wood and its agglomerates.

Seminar paper

The topic of the final seminar paper will be selected by the teacher.

The student collects the necessary data, analyzes them and prepares the final form in text form, supplemented by photodocumentation or graphic attachments related to the topic.

Requirements:

To receive credit, students will complete a seminar paper. This will be focus on the material that student uses in the atelier.

The course ends with an examination, which has a written and an oral part.

2. Ceramic materials - types, characteristics, composition, production

3. Ceramic materials in architecture and design

4. Glass - types of glass, properties, composition, production

5. Glass in design and architecture

6. Glass - surfaces

7. Wood - basic characteristics, sustainibility

8. Wood - properties, composition, types of wood

9. Concrete - properties, composition, production, technology and processing

10. Special types of concrete. Use of concrete in design

11. Stone - types, properties, processing

12. Stone in design and architecture

13. Awarding of credit, exam
