Synopsis:

Basic civic amenities CULTURE, EDUCATION, SPORTS. The subject focuses on common civic buildings characterized primarily by short-term and long-term visitor traffic, often related to leisure activities or centered around significant social or sporting events. 1 Public buildings and the city

2 Preschool education

3 Primary education

4 Secondary education

5 Theatre space

6 Theatre operations

7 Stage technology

8 Spaces, areas and surfaces for sports and physical education purposes.

9 Gymnasiums, halls, stadiums - development of typology

10 Integrated facilities - swimming pools - current trends, typology

11 Design of public buildings

12 Specific types of public buildings - town halls, embassies, exhibition pavilions

Syllabus of tutorials:

SECOND EXERCISE - analysis of a cultural building

THIRD EXERCISE - design of a grandstand, construction of a visibility curve, insertion of facilities for athletes

Study Objective:

During lectures and exercises, the graduate of the NS4 course will master the issues of researching and designing public buildings for the purposes of education, culture and sports in its entirety.

In particular, he will understand the importance of these buildings in the design and construction of cities and their role not only functional, but also symbolic and representative. He will understand the urban aspects of the placement of public buildings, such as their accessibility, gradient and relationship to public spaces. He will perceive that individual buildings are part of complex systems and structures of public infrastructure.

He will learn to correctly set or assess a construction program for a given typology in terms of operational links, spatial needs and capacities, including taking into account the required standard. He will understand the needs of building users and learn to use means to ensure their comfort, whether it is about the issues of good orientation, visibility and lighting or acoustics.

He will learn the basic rules for designing buildings for a larger number of people, especially for their collision-free movement and safety. He will be introduced to important principles of designing larger-scale spaces, including their structural solutions.

The NS4 subject also includes an introductory introduction to the issues of technological equipment of buildings with specific functional use, such as theaters with their stage technologies or winter or swimming stadiums with specific demands on the internal environment.
