Synopsis:

During the course students will gradually learn the basics of psychology and psychiatry, especially psychiatric aspects of the interaction of medical professionals and patients, as well as relationships with significant people from the patient's social environment. Students will learn the general, developmental and social psychology and personality psychology that are relevant to their professional work. The greatest attention is paid to the psychological aspects of individual situations where the patient or his relatives face: interview procedures are discussed with the patient and his loved ones, mental health care for ambulatory and hospitalized patients, access to psychological aspects of pain and psychosomatic disorders, anxiety and fear aggression, the issue of dying, death and bereavement, etc. Part of teaching is devoted to mental health crises and burn-out syndrome.

The aim of lectures and exercises is to give students a basic overview of trends in psychology and psychiatry, who may in their professional practice to meet and whose assistance may be used for working with clients. Students acquire basic knowledge about the basic directions in psychology and psychiatry used in practice.

The practical exercises will be used in a number of case studies, examples, and attachments, showing the application, topics in medical practice.

Requirements:

Active participation in seminars. It allowed one absence, the absence of larger can only apologize for serious and documented reasons. You need to agree with the Head of seminars form of compensation.

Another condition is the processing of credit and successful presentation of seminar work.

The test will take the form of a written test. In total, 10 questions with free response. Questions will fully coincide with themes being discussed. The maximum score is 30 The minimum number of points for the quiz is 16 points. Classification is based on the evaluation of ECTS.

A - 29 - 30 points

B - 26 - 28 points

C - 23 - 25 points

D - 24 - 20 points

E - 19 - 16 points

First Dementia (definition, dementia symptoms, dementia treatment, types of dementia, patient access to dementnímu)

Second The specific psychiatric diagnosis. (ADHD, autism, children's neuroses)

Third Neurotic disorders (neuroses, neurotic types of disorders, phobias, panic disorder, anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, dissociation, somatoforrmní disorders)

4th Organic mental disorders.

5th Mood disorders (hypomania, mania, depression, bipolar affective disorder, cyklotymie, dysthymia).

6th Eating disorders (bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa, non-specific eating disorders).

7th The basic mental functions and their disorders (disorders of perception, idiopathic disorders of perception, memory and its disorders, emotionality and its disorders, will and its disorders, speech and its disorders, emotional disorder, depressive disorders).

8th Personality disorders.

9th Schizophrenia.

10th The issue of burnout.

11th Alternative treatment of mental disorders (music therapy, art therapy, aromatherapy, zootherapy etc.).

First Psychology of disease and the patient. Adoption of disease, disability and life-changing roles.

Second Personality disorders. The basic mental functions and their disorders.

Third Psychological problems of care for patients with dementia. Organic mental disorders.

4th Psychological problems of care for patients with neurotic disorders.

4th Psychological problems of serious, chronic and terminal illness

5th Psychology and mental crisis. Schizophrenia.

6th Psychology of fear, pain and anxiety.

7th Eating disorders (bulimia nervosa, anorexia nervosa, non-specific eating disorders

food).

8th Prevention of burn-out syndrome among healthcare workers.

9th Specific diagnoses in child psychiatry.

10th Alternative approaches in psychology and psychiatry.

Syllabus of tutorials:

First Psychological approach to patients (practice therapeutic communication)

Second Psychological approach to patients with personality disorder (practical exercises)

Third Psychological approach to patients with personality disorder (practical exercises)

4th Psychological approach to patients with neurotic disorders (neurotic practice communication with the patient)

5th Psychological approach to dying patients

6th Psychological approach to patients who are undergoing crisis. Crisis intervention.

7th Psychological approach to patients with pain. (practice of therapeutic intervention)

8th Psychological approach to the child patient

9th Presentation of seminar papers students

10th Presentation of seminar papers and award students credits

Study Objective:

To acquaint students with basic concepts related to general psychology, and special.

Part of the course is devoted to the principles of a comprehensive psychosomatic approach and the historical roots of the current situation.
