Types of pavement structures, their basic models, approaches to calculation (theoretical design of multilayer systems). Requirements for a complex design method, characteristics of road construction materials, boundary conditions (subgrade conditions, climatic conditions, etc.). Diagnostics and assessment of the technical condition of pavements and subgrade - methods. Non-destructive diagnostics of pavements and subgrade - GPR method. Pavement degradation. Calculation of reinforcement. Pavement management.

- Study Objective:

The student will deepen his/her knowledge in the field of pavement mechanics, gain additional information about the behaviour of the pavement structure and subgrade under various design conditions. The student will become more familiar with the design of different types of pavement structures, or pavements designed for both normal road traffic conditions and special loads (e.g. aircraft, loaders, etc.).
