A subject deals with modern data acquisition systems (DAQ) being used in laboratory and industrial environment. Lectures are focused on detailed description of DAQ systems properties, software development and typical laboratory and industrial applications. Assigned software tasks in laboratories are solved using C/C++ language or LabVIEW environment.

1. Data acquisition (DAQ) systems - overview.
2. Operating systems for DAQ and control (including RTOS for DAQ and embedded systems.
3. Development of software applications. The use of C/C++ language and graphical programming (LabVIEW, VEE).
4. Standards for DAQ systems programming (IEEE 488.2, SCPI - Standard Commands for Programmable Instruments, VXIplug&play).
5. VXIplug&play and VISA library.
6. DAQ systems based on USB, Ethernet, RS-232, RS-422, IEEE 488, IEEE 1394
7. Modular systems based on PCI, Compact PCI, PXI, VME, VXI
8. Virtual measurement systems, structure, programming.
9. Distributed DAQ systems. LXI systems, class A, B, C. Programming, time synchronization.
10. Industrial networks for RT control (fieldbuses). Overview, fieldbuses based on RS-485, Industrial Ethernet a Industrial USB.
11. Posibilities of time synchronization in distributed (wide-area) DAQ, control and monitoring systems. IEEE 1588, NTP a GPS.
12. Communication in wide-area DAQ a monitoring systems. Internet utilization.
13. Practical application of GSM/GPRS/UMTS in wide-area DAQ and monitoring systems
14. Principles of DAQ systems integration, practical aspects of DAQ systems design.
