α registers, what does it mean and how to use it

α Microsoft Network

α User management, directories and printers sharing

α Antivirus and antispam software, computer maintenance

α Devices, drivers and patches

Novell Netware

o Bindary and NDS

o Users, trusties

o DOS prompt commands and batch files

o MS Windows clients

o File locking and sharing

o Creating network installable application

Linux

o The community, GPL, copyrights

o The instalation, distributions

o Terminal console

o System restarting (rc.*), runlevels, the /etc directory, bash skripts

o Recapitulation - CGI, C++ program as filter, the perl language

o Apache and mail server configuration

o User administration

o Administration of server applications

o The robots - cron and Mayordomo clone

o Remote desktop and X-window terminal/server

Practical examples on department computer network, whenever possible. Self-studiing examples on internet for independent solution of individual tasks on department and students personal servers.
