- Synopsis:
-
The subject is focused on the presentation of the basic concepts and principles of fire safety of buildings and health safety of buildings. It is intended for students of non-fire disciplines and should enable them to consider aspects of fire safety and health safety from the initial stages of project preparation of buildings.
- Requirements:
-
None
- Syllabus of lectures:
-
Introduction to fire safety of buildings - concept of risks and measures, fire, its causes and effects, legal regulations and technical standards, history of PBS, fire protection in building management, approaches to designing fire safety of buildings
Characteristics of buildings from the point of view of fire safety – categorization of buildings / spaces from the point of view of use and influence on the fire safety design, fire height of the building, structural solution of the building, division of the building into fire sections, fire „risk“ in the context of the Czech Republic
Fire, materials and constructions - phases of fire - origin, development, fully developed fire and burnout, possibilities of fire spreading through the interior and exterior of the building, influence of materials and constructions on the spread of fire
Construction of buildings from the point of view of fire safety - class of reaction to fire and fire resistance of structures, load-bearing structures, fire walls and ceilings, fire barriers, perimeter walls, exterior cladding and insulation, roof structures, cavities in structures, double floors and ceilings, sealing of penetrations
Evacuation – basic facts and principles of evacuation, principles of designing communication spaces and escape routes, execution of the most important parts of escape routes, evacuation of persons with limited abilities and orientation
Separation - the spread of fire through the exterior, measures to prevent the spread of fire through the exterior
Fire safety equipment - electric fire alarms, stable extinguishing equipment, smoke and heat extraction equipment, fire ventilation of escape and emergency routes, continuous supply of electricity, emergency lighting and safety markings, initial extinguishing, elevators
Installation of services and equipment for the intervention of firefighting units - electrical installation, gas, water, sewerage from the fire safety point of view, HVAC installation, access to the building, boarding area, emergency routes, water sources for fighting fires
Garages - underground garages vs. open garages, LPG, CNG and electromobility, stackers, spread of fire between cars
Accessibility of buildings and persons with limited mobility and orientation, medical facilities, social care, nurseries, kindergartens, etc.
Assembly spaces, high-rise buildings, atriums and open space planning, historic buildings and renovations
Harmful pollutants in building structures, radon, its sources and variants of anti-radon measures.
- Syllabus of tutorials:
-
No exercises
- Study Objective:
-
To acquaint students with the basics of fire safety solutions for buildings, legislation, the behavior of the most used materials in fire and their protection, the principles of fire safety measures, building systems and elements ensuring the improvement of fire protection of building structures, specific fire-technical properties of high-rise buildings, assembly areas and medical facilities. To present protection against harmful substances harmful to health in building structures, radon and its sources, variants of anti-radon measures.
