The aim of the subject Psychology of Work is to acquaint students with the findings of ap-plied psychology in the field of human labour. Lectures concern the internal and external conditions of the work process, its management and organisation, the personality of the man-ager, foundations of personnel management, individual career plans a basic psychodiagnos-tics. Another circle of issues includes social processes in the organization (communication, cooperation, conflict and organizational change). The psychology of work involves psychol-ogy of engineering with special focus on the relation between man and machine and the psy-chological aspect of this relation. The last theme are research methods and techniques of psy-chology of labour and sociometry as a method of measuring relations in small work groups. Exercises consist of student presentations on individual topics.
- Requirements:

1.Delivering oral presentations in classes and seminars. (Students doing a combined degree may be granted certain concessions; reduced attendance can usually be compensated for by completing a longer essay.)
2.Completion of a ten-page essay on an agreed topic, with subsequent discussion.
3.In certain cases, passing an oral test based on prescribed texts (depending on the quality the student?s essay).

Introduction to course. Psychodiagnostics - performance tests, personality tests. Style of ma-nagement - classical period, inter-human relations, reaction to the classical period. Motivation of work behaviour - X,Y Tudory. Personality typology for managers - classical concept, E. Schein typology. Research methods and techniques - quantitative approach, qualitative ap-proach, research techniques. Sociometry - sociogram, sociometric star, outsider.Psychology of advertising and PR - target groups, tools applied.
