Basic classification of turbomachines. Inlet and exhaust hoods, diffusers. Onedimensional theory of axial and radial stage of a turbomachine. Blade cascades. Threedimensional flow. Subsonic and transonic flow in blade rows. Design methods of compressors, fans, and pumps. Unsteady flows : surge, rotating stall, cavitation. Measurement of characteristics of turbomachines. Measurements of flow fields in flow channels. Application of CFD at design of turbomachines.
