Synopsis:

Principles of planning, realization and evaluation of experiments.

Experimental methods in machining: chip formation, primary and secondary plastic deformation, deformation of machined surface, residual stresses, work hardening, cutting forces, vibrations, heat and temperature, tool wear, tool life, machinability, cutting ability, cutting fluids.

Requirements:

Problem knowledge.

Experimental studies of measuring forming strains

Optimization of boundaries for sheet and bulk forming

Measuring of forces, position, velocity, acceleration

Temperature measurement, thermocouples

Planning, realization and evaluation of experiments in machining

Chip formation, primary and secondary plastic deformation study

Deformation of machined surface, residual stresses and work hardening study

Machinability and cutting ability study, cutting fluids testing
