Preparation methods of wear-resistant layers and coatings. Degradation mechanisms of surface layers and coatings in the conditions friction and wear. The effect of individual parameters on the degradation processes. Methods of experimental evaluation of tribological properties. The selection of surface layers and coatings according the wear conditions. The typical surface layers and coatings, the methods of their preparation and their characteristics.

2. Degradation mechanisms of surface layers and coatings in the conditions friction and wear.
