Methods of welding, brazing, soldering and thermal cutting, their characteristics. Designation according to EN, ASM norms. Theory of electric arc, welding sources for arc and resistance welding. Basics of weldability of metals. Applications of welding methods. Advantages and disadvantages of various methods. Selection of appropriate method according to application.

- Introduction to welding - terminology (EN ISO 6947, ISO 17 659), history, groups of welding methods (EN ISO 4063)
- Principles and characteristics of joining and cutting methods - usage, pros and cons, welding
o Gas welding (OGW)
o Manual metal arc welding (MMA, SMA)
o Gas metal arc welding in inert, active shielding atmosphere (GMAW, MIG, MAG)
o Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW, TIG)
o Flux cored arc welding (FCAW)
