- Synopsis:
-
This course is focused on mass unit operations accompanied with mass transfer and chemical reactions. It explains the basis of mass transfer and also behavior and phenomena of more complex multiphase or non-isothermal systems and equipments in which chemical or biochemical reactions. The course enlarges knowledge obtained in the basic similar course of the study branch "Process engineering? or creates mass transfer unit operation basis for student studying various specializations such as energetic, vehicle industry, cooling, ecology, waste water and effluent gas treatment, nanotechnologies, material and medical science etc. The study plan will be tailored by the choice from the following general offer to meet the requirements of the dissertation topic.

- Syllabus of lectures:
-
1. Theoretical foundations - definitions of concentrations, mass fluxes, calculation of
diffusivities, basic balance equations, steady and unsteady diffusion, turbulent
diffusion, convective mass transfer and mass transfer between phases.
2. Mass transfer with chemical reactions.
3. Mass transfer in heterogeneous systems.
4. Mass transfer in multi-phase systems.
5. Simultaneous heat and mass transfer.
6. Separation processes (distillation, absorption, extraction, leaching, adsorption,
membrane process, dissolution, drying).
7. Single- and multi - phase chemical reactors and combustion.
